The Dragon fly & I appeared before each other spontaneously, magically! We both were together in the moment, silence in nature’s Portal communicating with each other in the late noon into dusk & I asked the dragonfly if it would not mind sitting for a Portrait , it so kindly happily agreed & this is just one of the many portraits I captured of my happy smiling Dragonfly friend that day, during our fated beautiful encounter & sitting.“Much more than meets the eye” (To be continued)
laurent girard
Born in France, Laurent spent most of his adult life in New York. He now lives in Los Angeles where an early morning run in the Santa Monica mountains makes for better darkrooms hours.
These images were originally made for artist Simon Okshteyn as reference for a series of large graphite canvases, unfortunately Shimon died in 2020 and never used them. Laurent went back to the darkroom to give the insects a second life, or rather a second death, pinned and on display as the originals. No drawing was ever made.
